Why Work with a Broker
Choosing the right credit insurance company can be complex. There are seven or eight credit insurance companies in the United States, and each operates differently. One is a government agency, several perform credit checks on your customers, and others require your company to obtain and provide credit information on larger buyers.
Some insurers are best suited for companies with high sales volumes, while others focus on middle-market businesses. Several insurers employ their own sales force and can only offer one policy option. Others work only through brokers. The key question is: which insurer is the best match for your company?
The Credit Insurance Source is a specialty credit insurance broker focused exclusively on credit insurance and cargo insurance. With more than 30 years of credit insurance experience and business operations dating back to 2001, we help companies compare options, evaluate coverage, and secure policies aligned with their sales structure and risk profile.
Our principal has been employed by the two largest credit insurers, and we serve clients in 10 states. Some clients insure export sales only, others insure domestic sales only, and many include both domestic and foreign sales in their policies.
All credit insurers accept applications from specialty insurance brokers. As a specialty broker, The Credit Insurance Source understands the differences among available insurers, policy structures, underwriting requirements, and coverage options.
Because credit insurance is our focus, we help businesses navigate the details that can impact cost, coverage, and long-term value.
Specialty Credit Insurance Broker Expertise
Custom-Tailored Credit Insurance Coverage
Credit insurance can be structured in several ways, including:
- Domestic-only coverage
- Export-only coverage
Multiple Quotes and Clear Policy Comparisons
Your application package is submitted to several insurance companies so you can receive multiple quotes. We prepare an Excel™ spreadsheet outlining “Terms & Conditions” and “Approved Coverages” to highlight the differences between offers and explain them in detail.
From there, we negotiate with insurers to help obtain the most favorable package for your company. At your option, we can also assist in the decision-making process to help determine which carrier is best suited to your situation.
In some cases, including both domestic and export coverage may reduce the unit cost of export coverage compared to export-only coverage.
We also help evaluate whether coverage should include all divisions, subsidiaries, and affiliates—or exclude certain buyers. Special circumstances, such as specially made goods or consignment, can also be addressed during the policy review process.
Underwriting Support and Buyer Information Assistance
At your request, The Credit Insurance Source can assist in obtaining financial statements and buyer information to help increase coverage where possible. If needed, we can speak directly with an underwriter or arrange a three-party discussion between your company, the insurer, and our team.
We also help communicate the special circumstances that make your policy unique, so insurers have a complete understanding of your business needs.
No Cost to Your Company
Our services are provided at no cost to you. The Credit Insurance Source is paid by commission from the insurance company, and your premium is no higher when a specialty broker represents your company.
In fact, many insurers prefer working with experienced brokers because brokers can expertly handle routine policy matters as well as special issues throughout the life of the policy.
